Dear Total Balance Company Family,
March is upon us and always reminds me of my acting days – “Beware the Ides of March”. The famous line from Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar. The meaning has changed in this day and age due to religious beliefs being replaced by omens. 30 days prior to Caesar’s murder, he was warned by Spurinna, a soothsayer, that his life would be in danger for 30 days. On March 15th the warning became reality.
This brought me to thinking about the days we live in now. The fear placed upon us and the restrictions we have faced to living. No different than Caesar, we are constantly warned of the dangers to our lives. Just like Caesar, Senators are in the play. Yet living in fear pulls away our own power of self and undermines our own strength to stand tall, proud and strong as the Golden Generation always has. You may have seen my post in the Facebook Members Group about the role we play in adversity and challenges. We can either 1) Victim Down OR 2) Power uP. We all have excuses to justify the negative, the fear, the reason to give up or feeling of lack of support. But those voices are just that. Voices. They are not real, they are not actuality and above all, the voices are there to STOP you getting ahead. Your nemesis – Your enemy.
Here at Total Balance Company we believe that action speaks louder than words, and waiting for support is the greatest procrastinator to moving ahead. The act of not doing what you can is far beyond a physical sign, but rather a mental sign that the effort is too much for the goal, that the commitment is not really there. As such, raise the stakes. Raise the goal to ultimate level and make sure the effort to achieve the goals lead to the most rewarding outcome. When you truly want something as much as we say we do – the results will come, as the sacrifice of comfort and excuses diminishes when the desire takes over.
So, let’s MARCH ON to the better days ahead. Nothing great comes easily – and the majority are left in awe of those who dare to venture into the unknown, using their power from within to guide the steps ahead. Never fear the future when You have the power to influence your footsteps. POWER uP and NEVER, EVER, GIVE uP!
I will see you in the LIVE classes. I love feeling your energy. But above all, thank you for being YOU and always striving to be the best version driven by your Belief in the Best Can Still Happen.
With care and Love

Total Balance Company INSPIRATION OF THE Month – January 1st, 2022
A Mothers Need – A Daughters Tough Love
We shared the amazing story of Barbara last month as she took on a mission to regain her mobility through balance training after multiple surgeries and limitations that needed work. And the desire to lose weight to take pressure off of her joints and feet, while changing life to living again. But we rarely hear from those who are part of the “fighters” team. A passionate coach, because of the LOVE and desire to see more for the life in front of them. Sometimes with TOUGH LOVE.
Meet Michelle, Barbara’s daughter. Michelle is a dynamic lady and leader in her own right. Working out of the University of Kentucky in the Human Development Institute, and being very active in the outdoor lifestyle, Michelle understands the need to get up, get out and live. Breathing in the fresh air of North Carolina Mountains can add zest for life – but not if you are stuck inside. It is the visual “breath” as well as lung breathing that changes from waiting to be saved, to I don’t have time to waste so let’s do it NOW.
Seeing her Mother wasting away on the sofa, sleeping in till far too late, putting on weight and unwilling to take action, Michelle had to take over. Not that Barbara didn’t want to get better. Of course she did. Just the motivation was not consistent and to be honest, it’s hard to get up and go when the body wants to lay down. Balance is critical to any and all movement – and after Barbara saw the Total Balance Company’s balance system on TV and purchased it but didn’t engage properly, the opportunity to be the difference took action.
Michelle, with her active lifestyle climbing and hiking with her husband Ray, created a plan with multiple dimensions, that were all guided with the desire for life changing results we all saw in the last newsletter.
Step 1). Set up a plan that Barbara could do, and Michelle would make sure she kept to it.
Step 2). NO excuses, get up and start, because consistency will come from that first step forward.
Step 3). Set small goals and keep records of all activities and progressions to validate the emotional energy.
Step 4). Set longer term goals, and put a time frame that is realistic and yet must be worked for.
Step 5). Call in constantly – every day – to hold Mother accountable.
Step 6). Invest in programs that truly help and are realistic to use (Total Balance Company / Walking / Apps for tracking etc.).
Step 7). Do not allow frustration or slowing of progress to lower the focus of goals. Track the progress.
Step 8). Keep adding or changing goals to higher levels as new possibilities emerge from the work done.
Step 9). Keep celebrating each step along the way, no matter how small, because every step IS success.
Step 10). Do everything with LOVE because you care, Tough Love is still Love and the results will be best days ahead and making memories that everyone can celebrate for years to come – because they may not have been there without the work having to be done to make them.
Michelle talks passionately about the tough love. She truly cares and loves the woman who gave her life, her character, the foundation to her own success and passions in life, and has always been an example of drive and life – until life threw Barbara a challenge, she herself couldn’t overcome.
Destiny is beautiful. Everything happens because of a reason. Those life lessons passed down from generation to generation have a purpose. The character building of a parent to a sibling will come back again tenfold. As Michelle so eloquently explained, there is not a day to be wasted in living, and living it with her Mom is a joy. The lessons she has learned over her lifetime, admiring her mother from so many angles of growing up, finally had a chance to pay off in gratitude by being the rock that help Barbara overcome the challenges she alone could not face. How beautiful to repay your parent for gifting you life, by gifting them life again.
Michelle’s message to everyone – take action to help your parents. Hold their hand gently and if needing a push, a gentle, or sometimes tough reminder to get up and do it, is ok. But above all Michelle stands firm that tough love by holding Barbara accountable and not letting her slack off is critical to success. Keep checking in, especially when things are going well, as that is the easiest time to fall off. Make it part of your routine as a support person to check in daily just to keep energy positive and even on a day off, check in. Love your parents enough to actually care and invest in them the way they invested in you. And if you don’t believe how important it is, Barbara sums it up best.
“It was much less scary and effort to do the workouts than face the call from Michelle and have to suffer the words for missing the workouts!”.
TIP of the NEWSLETTER
Move. Very simple. Move.
The body is fed with oxygen that delivers the “food” to our cells, organs, muscles, and brain. Without oxygen we cannot live. And so is that true for the cells. By feeding our body oxygen we can regenerate, or feed our energy, focus, brain, and essentially literally “breathe life” into our day. Keep the body re-oxygenating itself by getting uP for five to ten minutes every 90 minutes. Get on the Total Balance Company while watching TV and rock. Step on 1 and 1 and walk, lift the legs high, or small fast running steps. Squat, or do step ups, tapping or ANY movement that incorporates the legs. Raising one hard above your head while moving will also increase oxygen demand and as such increase the heart rate, sending blood, carrying those red oxygenating blood cells, moving quickly around your body. It is amazing how quickly you will feel a difference day to day from a little effort of moving to re-energizing life itself.
And don’t forget – after each 5-10 minutes movement exercise, have half a glass of water. Keep the body hydrated and the blood freely moving throughout – it makes all the difference.
