Welcome to the best month of the year. Why the best month? Because it is the one you are living. Life is a treasure, and time is precious. So many times, we wait for the “next” and forget to live “now”. When we look back on our lives with the amazing wisdom that comes from time and experiences, the old saying, “If only I knew then what I know now” pops up. Yet here we are, knowing now! So, what are we doing with that knowledge? I truly believe knowledge is power, which makes us the most powerful we have ever been.
I was so fortunate to spend time working with Mark Burnett as a friend. Mark is a most amazing man, TV creator of shows Survivor, The Voice, Shark Tank, the Apprentice and more, and was an inspiration to me. We would often talk about action, going after dreams, and above all – Decision Making. In my documentary, The Ultimate Goal (now on Amazon TV), Mark gives a great talk to my team about delay in decision making is a form of procrastination. If time is the most valuable thing we have, then decision making is time sensitive to maximize our life. Mark has a book called “Jump In” where he tells. Great story about when he was in the Paratroop Regiment with British Military. A moment that added value to his life years later.
You Life begins Today. Wherever your starting point is can become Your Inspirational Story that feeds others who need You to lead the way. Do not get stuck waiting for someone else to save you. Use your experience. Take action. Believe in You, and never ever give up. You have unbelievable power and possess character to make the change you want.
I cannot speak highly enough of our Inspiration of the Month. A Lady I was fortunate enough to meet when she reached out and asked if we had a Total Balance Company to borrow while traveling through California in her RV. It was a show of true commitment to living and Valerie’s story is beyond inspirational. IT is truly living life without Age determining the journey. Total Balance Company HERO OF THE Month – August 1st, 2021
My name is Valerie K. I am an 80-year-old grandmother. In July 2017 I fell and broke my shoulder in two places, on the second day of a four-week vacation. Luckily, they don’t operate on broken shoulders. That would have ruined my vacation! We just wrapped me up and we went on.
On the first day of another vacation with my sister, I tripped over one of the rods holding the car to the coach and fell right on my face. A stop at the emergency room and we were on our way. Things happen and I find the humor. I sent this “hilarious” picture out in the next email. I was encouraged to turn all this crazy stuff into a book. (The News from Arkansas – Sense of Humor Required).
In November of that year I had a series of small strokes. Towards the end of 2018 I had back surgery which has been a slow recovery. My muscles had atrophied, and my balance was terrible. I saw the infomercial for Total Balance Company with Bob Eubanks. Bob said, it changed his life, and it is changing mine too.
I live in a community that is 70% seniors. When I go to my card games or other meetings the first thing I ask is “Have you seen the Total Balance Company balance board!” I show them the muscles in my arms and squat down to the ground five or six times to show them how well my balance is doing.
With travel restrictions being lifted, I wanted to travel from my home in Arkansas to visit my children in California. I travel in a small class B motorhome. I sent Total Balance Company an email telling them of my plans and asking if they had a smaller version that I could use during my trip.
I got an answer right away from Dan Metcalfe. He asked me where I was going to be and when I told him the Los Angeles area he said, “No problem, call when you arrive, and I will get you one to use while you are here.” Now what other company does that!
I downloaded the “LIVE” March 25, 2021, Advanced workout to my iPad. It’s the one where Bob Eubanks surprises Dan. That worked out so well! I was traveling with a friend who wanted to stop at casinos. I told her she had 1 hour to gamble while I was doing my exercises and then she had to come out so we could get on down the road.
As part of a program to get to know new members in my Altrusa Club we were asked to tell one sentence that defined us. Mine was “I choose to be happy”.
I had many conversations with the remarkable Dan Metcalfe. He is a very kind and knowledgeable man. What a pleasure it was to meet, in person, the man who invented this marvelous board that is changing my life.
